Threaded Solid Brass Quiver Inserts 1/4-20
These inserts can be installed by either drill and install or drill, tap, and install.
Drill and Install: For very dense hardwoods use a 23/64" drill bit. For softer hardwoods, like walnut, use a 11/32" drill bit.
Drill, Tap, and Install: For all woods soft and hard use a 21/64" drill bit to predrill hole, then use a 3/8-16 tap.
Once you have the hole prepped to receive the insert, use a 1/4-20 bolt appoximately 2" long. Install two nuts on the bolt leaving about 1/4" of threads stricking out past the location of the two nuts. Tighten the two nuts against each other very tightly. Thread insert onto the exposed threads. Screw insert into the hole and reverse the bolt back out.
The inserts do not need glue to fuction properly. If you choose to glue them, place a dab of medium CA in the hole on the riser, NOT on the threads of the insert.
